Expungement, also referred to as sealing or vacating a record or expunction, is the process of having your criminal record deleted so that there is no longer a paper trail indicating that you have a record. Expungement is not available in all states, and state laws vary as to which records can be expunged. In most cases, all charges, arrests, and minor convictions can be expunged.
